Soffit

DEFINITION

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

EXPLANATION

A soffit is the underneath  portion of an arch, ceiling, or flight of stairs that is located between the wall and structure. They can be used to decorate a room  but at times are used for a multitude of reasons. There are soffits that are designed in order to conceal different housing necessities that otherwise would be exposed such as heating or cooling ducts or plumbing pipes in older houses.  If a soffit is in the lower level of a home it is usually used to hide a structural beam  that may be pivotal to the structure yet may not be aesthetically pleasing.

Soffits In Older Homes

Due to the multi-dimensional use of soffits, it is pivotal to check the safety of removing a one in an older home. As mentioned before, soffits are used to conceal many important aspects of a home’s structure so it is best to hire a professional handyman or contractor to consult with in order to avoid any unwanted damage.

Adding A Soffit

There are some that may want to add a soffit for aesthetic or decorative purposes. Depending on the dimensions of a housing space, one may want to create a more cozy feel in an otherwise spacious area. Soffits can also be constructed from a plethora of materials such as tile, wood or even sheetrock. Soffits are an interesting option when it comes to creating a clean, homely space that otherwise might show unwanted piping or large unoccupied spaces.
